Ed Vásquez was born in the Dominican Republic . His relationship to the arts begins at an early age when he spent time at his parent’s sewing workshop, which explains why his works depict the process of creating items of apparel in his series like Manufacture or Runway. Between 1995 and 1997 he studied Drawing and Painting at the Fine Art National School.

A year later, Ed entered the  Art & Design School Altos de Chavón in the Dominican Republic. During his second year his extraordinary performance earned him the Dominique Bludhorn Fellowship to get his Bachelor’s Degree (2001- 2003). 

He obtained a Master of Fine Art (MFA) at the New York Academy of Art (2020-2022)

Over time, practice has become the principal form of study for this exceptional creative artist in addition to his participation in talks, seminars, courses and arts- and culture-related studies, all of which enhance his profile.
